A Spiritual yatra to Nandgaon Govardhan and Vrindavan was organised by ISKCON Punjabi Bagh on 7th and 8th Oct.The trip was attended by 175 devotees.

The yatra included visit to Ter kadamb Govardhan parikrama Visit to Vrindavan and enlivening lectures in between.

It was led by HG Rukmini Krishna prabhu and HG Namprem prabhu.

Srila Prabhupada Disappearance Day

“He reasons ill who tell that Vaishnavas die, When thou are living still in sound! The Vaishnavas die to live, and living try To spread the holy name around!”

A day not to mourn but to replenish our love for our dearest of the dear shiksha guru A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.

A day to feel responsible of the legacy left by him, for us to preach and propogate.

We at ISKCON Punjabi Bagh, celebrated this auspicious day on October 23rd with great enthusiasm. The day started with MangalArti with a myriad of devotees attending it, followed by Prabhupada worship, Prabhupada class, abhishek and bhoga offering.

The main attraction was the glorification wherein quite a few shared their realizations and reminiscences with our most revereredSrilaPrabhupada. The sombre atmosphere was surcharged by their speech.

Goverdhan Puja

Goverdhan Puja was celebrated on October 20th 2017. It commemorates the pastime of Lord Sri Krishna lifting the Govardhana Hill to protect the residents of Vrindavana from the wrath of Indra.

Devotees gathered in large numbers and witnessed the Annkuta festival. Following in the footsteps of the residents of Vrindavana, this festival is celebrated every year in the month of Kartika. Devotees prepared varieties of foodstuffs with grain and ghee and all kinds of milk preparations. The food was stacked like a small hill and offered to the Lord. Thus the name Annakuta Festival.

The main highlight was katha by HG Rukmini Krishna prabhu, followed by prasadam.

Deepawali 2017

This Deepawali, was blessing in disguise, with the orders of the Supreme Court to ban crackers in Delhi NCR. ISKCON Punjabi Bagh had organized a special HarinamSankirtan on Deepaawali, 7.30 pm onwards which attracted throngs of devotees.

They all jubilantly participated in the PalkiHarinamSankirtan. The high amplitude of Holy Names in the entire area made everyone forget the sound of crackers and everyone absorbed in the blissful singing of Mahamantra.

Kartik 2017

Kartik, the festival of light, radiance, devotion and most importantly love was celebrated with great enthusiasm. A month-long festival commemorating Damodara-lila, the sweet pastime of baby Krishna stealing butter and consequently being tied to a mortar by His dear mother Yashoda. In Sanskrit, “dama” means rope and “udara” means belly. Damodara refers to Krishna who was bound with a rope by His mother Yashoda.

From morning mangalarti till evening Deepdan and Palkikirtan, devotees from all classes exuberantly participated in this festival for the entire month.

Thousands of diyas lit before the altar and in the temple compound area, surcharged the spiritual atmosphere and elevated the devotion to an ecstatic level. Each one could feel the resistance to move from their place, after taking darshan of Sri SriRadhaRadhika Raman in spiritual atmosphere.

Echoes of Damodarashkatam with its melodious music, reverberated the hearts of many.

This most auspicious month concluded with BheeshmaPanchak on 4th November 2017.

IYF Yatra Chitrakoot

After a long time, a mega camp of ISKCON YOUTH FORUM, Punjabi Bagh was organised, this time at the Holy land of Chitrakoot, having a participation of more than 225 young, ethusiastic devotees! Other than ISKCON Punjabi Bagh, devotees from ISKCON Bahadurgarh, ISKCON Juhu, and ISKCON Chandigarh were also a part of it. It was a great fortune of the devotees to get the association of a number of senior vaishnasliks HG Rukmini Krishna prabhuji, HG Kamal Lochanprabhuji, and HG Murali Krishna prabhuji. The devotees had an opportunity to have a marathon of classes from them on several topics from Ramayan like ‘Qualities of Lord Ram,’ ‘Qualities of mother Sita,’ ‘friendship between Lord Ram and Sugriva’ etc. Other festivals, like disappearance day of SrilaRaghunath Das Goswami and Krishna Das KavirajGoswami, were also celebrated.

The devotees also visited several places like Ram Ghat, beautiful Mandakini River, Sati-Anusuya temple, Gupt Godavari (a beautiful cave with Godavari river water dripping from the top) & Hanuman dhara temple located on mountain-top.

The devotees also did Kamadgiriparikrama one morning, followed by ecstatic sankirtan. During the parikrama, they also visited Ram-Bharat milapmandir where even today, there is a Sphatikshila with the lotus feet of Lord Ram, Bharat Maharaj, mother Sita, and mother Kaushalya imprinted on it.

Other features like ecstatic morning arati, sankirtan, book-distribution, Ganges bathing, lipsmackingprasadam, dramas on Ramayan and life of Raghunath Das Goswami kept the devotees boosted up for all 4 days.

In the end, there was a Festival of Inspiration wherein, HG Murali Krishna prabhuji talked about the history of ISKCON Punjabi Bagh, along with the contributions of senior vaishnavas. A token of appreciation was also given to the devotees who have rendered significant services in IYF Punjabi Bagh.

Activities of Hare Krishna School

Kartik the month of festivals dominated the mood of Hare Krishna School. With a wide plethora of auspicious activities like deep daan, recitation of damodarashktam, lamp painting, ravan making, goverdhanlila, damodarlila and appearance day of Radhakund.

The little ones not only enjoyed participating in each but also learned many things. Indeed the festive spirit was vividly seen during this month.

ISKCON Punjabi Bagh recently successfully concluded its 7 day course, which summarized the teachings of Bhagavad Gita. The course was conducted at 4 venues and attended by 250 members spread over 7 weekends.

They came to know different aspects of transcendental knowledge like science of soul, who is God, karma etc. Members felt blessed and have added chanting of Hare Krishna Mahamantra in their daily lives.

Everyone thanked and expressed their gratitude towards ISKCON. The course ended on a very blissful note with many new beginnings.

World Holy Name Week 2017

The Sankirtan Revolution of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, is being propagated by ISKCON, through this annual festival, which focusses on extensive kirtans/japa/harinaams etc. The main aim still remains the same, to spread the glories of Holy Names in every possible way. This year also marks the centurial anniversary of Srila Prabhupada’s arrival in the USA. Therefore, this year’s theme is called ‘Srila Prabhupada’s gift to the world’.

Keeping this superlative instruction of previous acarayas, ISKCON Punjabi Bagh hosted a series of events, from 9 th Sep – 17 th Sep 2017. There were almost 8 Harinaams organized at various locations in New Delhi. All of them attracted a wide range of audience and infused them with sound of Mahamantra. “Chant Dance Feast Repeat” the festival tagline was vividly seen in these processions.

Japathon session was organized on 16 th Sep which included chanting of 64 rounds on the auspicious occasion of Indira Ekadashi. The congregation participated whole heartedly and made it a success. Separate Japathon cards were also distributed to the members to note their incremented japa rounds. It too drew overwhelming response.

Apart from this ISKCON Punjabi Bagh, daily organized Srimad Bhagwatam class on the importance of Mahamantra. Hare Krishna School kids organized a small Harinaam.
