Chandan Yatra 2019
The 21 day festival of Chandan Yatra is starts on 7th May, with loads of enthusiasm amongst the devotees. To keep the Deities cool during time of scorching summer, devotees apply sandalwood paste (chandana) over Them. People of all age groups participate in grinding chandan for the pleasure of Sri Sri RadhaRadhikaraman, Sri Sri Krishna Balram and Sri Sri Jagannath Baldev and Saubhadra Maharani. This date also marks Akshay Tritya, the most auspicious date for any event to be conducted. Akshaya tritiya, according to the Vedic calendar, is a day considered to be conducive to success in any significant endeavor.
Like every year the deities will be decorated with a chandan paste and will be open for special darshans. They attract throngs of people during these 21 days and devotees are in zestful mood to grind chandan for the Lordships during this period.
The Deities are covered completely with chandan, which provides the Lord relief from the scorching heat of summer in the month of Vaisakha/Jyestha.
