Jhulan Yatra 2018
The sacred festival of Jhulan Yatra (Swing festival) is celebrated in the auspicious sacred month of Shravana (July-Aug). We begin on the Pavitropanna Ekadashi in the waxing phase of the moon and continue till Sawan Purnima (Full moon) i.e. for 5 days.
Every day the Deities of Sri Sri Radha Radhikaraman are decorated with various jewels and gently swayed on a flower swing which closely resembles Lord’s Vrindavan pastimes. A special arati is offered to the Deities accompanied by sweet kirtans sung by devotees. After the arati, devotees get an opportunity to sway the swing and offer direct personal service to Their Lordships.
This is a wonderful ceremonial function of Lord Krishna’s pastimes that reflects practically how we are to render service to the Lord for His pleasure. These festivals are not in any way mere rituals, as they all have practical service functionality to invoke loving servitude of the devotees for the Lord. Lord Sri Krishna is the Supreme enjoyer and doesn’t have to work hard like us in this world. Everything He does is pleasurable, and He organises many situation in which He can incorporate us, His separated parts and parcels into His loving service which is our natural condition in the spiritual realm.
ALL ARE CORDIALLY INVITED TO JOIN THE CELEBRATIONS FROM 21st AUG – 26th AUG, DAILY FROM 7.30 pm – 9.00 pm
