Bidding farewell to HH Bhakti Madhurya Govinda Swami Maharaj

14th November 2020 is a date which will be etched in the memory of devotees of Iskcon Punjabi Bagh for their lifetime. Exactly 43 years ago, on this same data, Srila Prabhupada concluded his manifest pastimes in this world to go back to his eternal service.

This is the day when each, especially the devotees of ISKCON Punjabi Bagh felt the pain of parting from a pure devotee. On this day, HH Bhakti Madhurya Govind Swami Maharaj joined back the service of his dearmost spiritual master Srila Prabhupada leaving innumerable memories of his love, grandfatherly chastisements, service and worship within the hearts of the devotees. ISKCON Punjabi Bagh is extremely fortunate as Maharaj had been based out of the Punjabi Bagh temple since the last 15 years. His presence and guidance was an inspiration for all.

Seeing him in the temple hall, after he returned from his tours from Asia was a moment of great fortune and satisfaction for the resident and congregation devotees. Maharaj always advocated sticking to Srila Prabhupada’s standards on every small aspect of devotional service. The void of separation along with the gratitude of his association will keep him alive in the hearts of the devotees here. Maharaj’s last rites took place in Vrindavan where he was offered Samadhi, after a heartful kirtan by the devotees at his home at Punjabi Bagh.
