Watering the budding seeds (Jan 2021)

Hare Krishna Sunday School of ISKCON Punjabi Bagh is really excited to start the study of Shrimad Bhagwatam for its Children. The program is planned to be run under the expert guidance of Her Grace Arrudha Mataji, using the wonderful comprehensive guide designed by Her Grace Arrudha Mataji.

As we all know that Srila Prabhupada always emphasised the importance of introducing Srimad Bhagwatam in Schools. By giving them Srimad Bhagwatam, children become confident of their spiritual identity and also do well academically. Prabhupada’ s (Srimad Bhagwatam) books inspire critical reasoning and creative thinking which are the main elements of Academic education. Srimad Bhagwatam is full of analogies, allegories, figurative speech and metaphors, even a 7 year old child can understand difficult concepts because the subject matter of Srimad Bhagwatam encourages good thinking skills. Srimad Bhagwatam is a wonderful book to teach from because it gives the philosophy of the Bhagwat Gita through stories and children love stories.

Srimad Bhagwatam will be taught to children starting from Canto 1 and the teaching will involve methods of storytelling, character description, making mind map of important shloka, discussing higher thinking questions, puzzles, games and quizzes, along with art & craft activities, drama and much more.

The main objective is to provide children from the ages of 6 – 15 years, with spiritual knowledge from the Srimad Bhagwatam and give them an opportunity for personal realization. The activities planned to be covered will help the children develop their comprehensive skills, apply knowledge skills, analytical skills, creative skills, self-evaluation skills, along with various language skills.
